Project Overview

Procon Group completed the installation of four emergency eyewash stations within the Level 1 dialysis ward of the Marian Wing at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.

The stations were located along an open corridor within the active dialysis department, requiring the work to be carefully phased while patients continued receiving treatment. Each installation area was individually enclosed with infection-control hoarding, allowing construction to proceed without shutting down the dialysis ward or interrupting patient services.

Procon coordinated the complete scope, including supply and installation of the eyewash stations, plumbing and electrical work, wall and ceiling openings, patching, finishes and infection-control measures. Existing conditions at one location prevented a conventional recessed installation, so a custom stainless-steel enclosure was incorporated to provide a durable, accessible finished installation.

All four stations were completed on schedule with no interruption to dialysis services.

Key Project Considerations

Active Healthcare Environment

Work was completed within an operating dialysis department while patients continued receiving treatment.

Phased Infection Control

Each of the four installation areas was individually isolated with infection-control hoarding, allowing the surrounding dialysis department to remain operational.

Existing-Condition Coordination

Existing conditions at one location prevented a conventional recessed installation. A custom stainless-steel enclosure was incorporated to provide a clean and durable finished installation.

Complete Scope Coordination

Procon managed the eyewash supply and installation together with the associated plumbing, electrical work, wall and ceiling openings, patching, finishes and infection-control requirements.

No Service Interruption

Construction was sequenced around ongoing hospital operations and completed on schedule without interruption to dialysis services.
