Procon Group Inc. provides general contracting and construction management for universities, colleges, schools and public-sector facilities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Southern Ontario. We have been building since 2008, on institutional projects generally between approximately $25,000 and $3 million.

Institutional buildings are busy, tightly scheduled and full of specialized space. Construction has to work around the calendar rather than the other way round.

Working to the Academic Calendar

Institutional work is scheduled against terms, examinations and research activity as much as against trades and materials. A summer window is a hard deadline, not a target. Work next to occupied teaching or research space has to be quiet at the right times and finished on the day it was promised.

We plan around those constraints from the start — phasing, off-hours scheduling, staged handover of completed areas, and separation between construction zones and the students, staff and visitors using the building.

Laboratories and Specialized Spaces

Teaching and research environments are rarely simple interior work. Existing conditions are often undocumented, services run through walls in unexpected places, and equipment carries its own mechanical, electrical and ventilation requirements.

We coordinate the trades, consultants and third-party equipment installers those spaces require, and we plan for the existing-condition surprises that come with older institutional buildings rather than treating them as change-order opportunities.

Site Control, Safety and Closeout

Campus and school environments put construction close to people who have no reason to expect it. Hoarding, controlled access, dust control, daily housekeeping and safe routes around the work are managed continuously.

Projects close out with deficiency review, documentation and a handover that lets the space go back into service on schedule.
